RALLY PARIS-DAKAR LEGENDS – Georges Groine & Mercedes-Benz
This is a small overview of the trucks with which Georges Groine – a great Dakar legend from France – took part in the Rally-Paris-Dakar.
Mr. Groine (or as called by his friends – Jojo) started at the Dakar rally more than 25 times, 10 times as a competitor and loyal to the Mercedes-Benz truck all the time.
The first start was already in 1980 on the Mercedes-Benz LP 913 with his son Bruno in the crew. In the second rally in 1981 he finished third in the truck category (Groine/De Saulieu/Malferiol crew) with Mercedes-Benz 1932 AK. The next year – '82, arrived at the finish in the truck category as the winner (this time on the Mercedes-Benz Unimog U 1700, again the crew of Groine/De Saulieu/Malferiol) and in 1983 repeated his victory (on Mercedes-Benz 1936 AK along with De Saulieu-Malferiol).
Georges Groine's extensive experience in the desert has been used for years by the largest Dakar teams to accompany them as their service vehicle.
